Halstead Road Runner Maurice Young completed the Ely duathlon race. Over a 5k run, 25k bike and 5k run course. Maurice stopped the clock in 2 hours and 8 minutes. Maurice described the course as flat and conditions as sunny with now wind!

The National Cross Country championships was held at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath, London in perfect conditions. The course was unusually dry although some areas still became quite muddy after thousands of feet had trampled the ground.

There were 650 finishers in the Womens 8k race

460th Hazel Buist in 41:12

There were 1652 finishers in the Mens 12k mile race
419th Gavin Allen in 44:31 (running for Braintree AC)
827th Andrew Warner in 49:23 (running for Orion Harriers)
887th Phil Davies in 50:04
1540th Andy Carter in 1:01:25

There were 373 finishers in the Boys U13 3k race
168th Luke Allen in 12:41 (running for Braintree AC)

Stuart Ellis (running for Braintree AC) competed in the Sidcup 10 mile road race. This was a 3 lap course which is always a popular event for athletes seeking a PB (personal best) time. Ellis did not disappoint and crossed the line in a PB time of 61:39 shaving 2 minutes off his previous time. Finishing 16th out of over 300 athletes. This is a perfect race in preparation for his up and coming London Marathon in April.
